With the indigineous trades in Arunachal Pradesh getting a boost from the Govt., the local community of artisans, farmers and entrepreneurs are moving towards an AtmaNirbhar vision. The vocal for local initiative of the Govt. aims at promoting local produce at both domestic and global markets.

The land of Arunachal Pradesh has had a rich culture in the arts & craft domain, with each tribe exhibiting their distinct taste. For instance, the ornaments worn by different communities are unique in style and craftsmanship. Their beadwork varies from community to community. Apart from jewelleries, indigenous decor items carved out of wood with exotic embellishments are also produced in the region. Adding on, utility based commodities such as floor mats, tools and bamboo furnitures are some other items produced by local artisans.

As an agrarian state, Arunachal Pradesh also has a diverse range of agricultural produce which are unique. Various types of local rice grown across different parts of the state are different from rice grown in other states. The state also cultivates spices and vegetables which are unique to the region.

In the context of vocal for local, one cannot overlook the mesmerizing weaving culture of traditional attires in the region, which again varies from community to community. As a matter of fact, the Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh has mandated the wearing of traditional attires for its employees on the 15th of every month to honor the vocal for local initiative.

The tourism of Arunachal Pradesh also contributes to the vocal for local approach, as tourists keep visiting the region for its spectacular natural treasures and scenic views. Through tourism, the ethnic cuisines of Arunachal Pradesh with a diverse flavour profile stemming from different communities also makes a significant contribution towards the local economy.

In the recent years, local artisans, farmers and entrepreneurs from the above mentioned domains have stood out nationally for their economic contribution and have also stirred a wave of inspiration among their peers in the process.

Looking at the immense potential in the region, Arunachal Pradesh is already stepping in the direction of self-sustenance through their AtmaNirbhar mode.

But what can be done more (and differently) to widen the prospects? MyGov Arunachal Pradesh invites its people to share their views and suggestions on the vocal for local initiative, and ways to strengthen the approach.
