The central sponsored Jal Jeevan mission was launched in the state of Arunachal Pradesh on 23rd of August by Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Pema Khandu virtually with a view to empower village communities under the scheme. Keeping the national target of providing tap connections to all households by 2024 in vision, State Govt. Arunachal Pradesh has geared up to fulfil the state target by the year 2023 itself.

However, one of the few challenges to be met in order to achieve our target, is the issue of water scarcity in some districts of Arunachal. This has emerged due to factors like heavily practised Jhum cultivation and over exploitation of forests; leading to degradation of greenery and an eventual decline in the amount of rainfall.

Through this discussion we invite all the citizens to share their opinions on how the Jal Jeevan Mission can help bring improvement in the village communities pertaining to the issues of water scarcity. What other reasons there might be, which could be disrupting the water supply connections?
