The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has inaugurated two Rural Haats in Namsai and Wakro, marking an important step toward strengthening rural livelihoods in Arunachal Pradesh.
These haats will provide improved market access for local farmers and Self-Help Groups (SHGs), enabling them to sell their produce directly and enhance their income opportunities.
The initiative is being implemented by NOSAAP Producer Company in collaboration with Rumai Primary Level Federation under the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission. It reflects a broader commitment to empowering rural communities, promoting local products, and fostering grassroots entrepreneurship.

Why is the village market important?
It is an important place for the villagers. The locals trade the everyday necessities of their life in a town market. A town market sits in an open spot of the town. For the most part, it sits by the side of a street or on the bank of a stream or a waterway so the locals can travel every which way.

Local markets are crucial for villages because they drive the local economy, provide direct access to goods and act as vital social hubs. They enable farmers to sell produce directly, reducing transportation costs and post-harvest losses while keeping money within the community. These markets foster social connection and offer sustainable, fresh food options.
