It has been more than 4 months since the central government announced a countrywide shutdown of educational institutes of all kind, as a measure to contain COVID-19. As per UNESCO estimations, over 154 crore students are severely impacted by closure of educational institutions across the world amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

In India, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) is formulating safety guidelines to be followed whenever classroom learning is resumed. New seating matrix, staggered classes, different mess and library rules, revamped hostels and canteens, could be part of students’ socially distant lives in schools and colleges when they return.

However, until then most educational institutions have transitioned into digital platforms for education. Parents are also trying their best to cooperate with their children’s online studies, some schools are providing online classes through apps such as Google Meet, Zoom, Instagram Live, Facebook Live, WhatsApp etc. and also conduct meetings with parents and students on a regular basis.

But there is still a huge disparity between attending school and online class, one of them being lack of facilities for students to attend the aforementioned online classes, particularly for the most marginalised children who rely solely on schools for their education. There are various resources which are required for students to attend online classes such as stable internet access, an electronic device (mobile, laptops, etc.) and so on, which some underprivileged students may be unable to afford.

My Gov Arunachal seeks your opinion on whether online classes option would truly be a fair alternative to regular classes for the students or should there be another form of education introduced in such circumstances?

You can study from anywhere in the world
With online teaching, you can study from anywhere, as long as you have internet access. You no longer have to factor in commuting to campus and the associated costs. Similarly, if weather conditions or other issues disrupt your ability to travel, you still have access to lessons.

Online teaching means you can study at any time of day and according to the schedule that works best for you. Access to class materials is available 24/7.

Some people are early birds—others are night owls. Research is also emerging that shows we all have naturally different sleep patterns and different people work best at different times of day.

Online classes allow you to study at the time when you feel most productive.

Online teaching makes use of digital tools and software to allow teachers and students to connect remotely, continuing the classroom experience in a virtual space. Using recorded lectures, discussion forums, and other tech solutions, you are now able to gain degrees and qualifications all at your own comfort and convenience.

Offline classes will be better. To start the offline classes ,there is a method. The schools can be started by technique which is used in the Thailand. So it is better to use that same method in India also.

Though a risky option, offline classes is the right option as,
it is not practical to cover students across the sections of society due to various constraints and limitations with online as an option. It has practical issues when it comes to online classes as, a significant number of students do not have access to internet facility nor can afford the hardware needed for setting up online studies.

Offline classes with strict SOP is the best option. Online class is class discriminatory, only rich students are happy poor students without equipments is sad plus the network problem, the cost of data it's extra burden. Offline class is only option
