The government of Arunachal Pradesh has implemented several projects in the last few years to improve network connectivity in the region. One such project is the installation of 4G connectivity by BSNL across a total of 407 sites in the region. Currently, 393 sites have been successfully integrated, with only 57 sites remaining to be connected.
In addition to 4G connectivity, the government has also implemented the Bharat NET-II project by TCIL, which focuses on providing VSAT connections. In total, 865 VSATs have been installed across various sectors. Out of these, 421 have been allocated to educational institutes, including girl's residential schools, high schools, middle schools, and primary schools. Hospitals have been allocated 52 VSATs, administrative offices have been allotted 75 VSATs, and the police department has received 85 VSATs. Gram Panchayats have been provided with 213 VSATs, and there are 19 VSATs allocated for other purposes.
With an average speed increase of 10 Mbps, network speeds have considerably increased as a result of these projects. High-speed internet connectivity is now available to a number of government offices located in various remote districts, including the Shi Yomi DC Office, the Kurung Kumey DC Office, the Anjaw DC Office, and the Kamle DC Office.
Moreover, the government is also working towards improving connectivity in remote villages through the USOF Arunachal Pradesh project being implemented by Bharti Hexacom Limited on ground. Currently, a total of 1683 villages have been identified for coverage, with 556 towers planned for installation.
In addition to improving communication and data accessibility for locals, these projects are anticipated to improve the region's potential for e-governance, e-healthcare, and e-educational services, amongst other digital advancements.
We invite inputs from all individuals about their experience with network connectivity in the remote areas of Arunachal Pradesh so far. Citizens are also requested to submit additional suggestions for improving the digital transformation in Arunachal Pradesh.
