Urbanization and its Impact on Culture

In every society, the significance of a cultural identity is manifold. History and tradition not only give us a sense of belonging but they also strengthen our ability to appreciate the world we live in. Our values, our expressions, our perceptions are shaped by the kind of cultural landscape we are born into or we identify with. The various components of culture such as language, costume, food, art, music and literature, festivals etc all contribute towards endowing a certain richness to our experience of life.

Culture gives us a sense of identity, security and fulfills our needs as a human. It inspires generations to grow as a collective unit, and teaches them to practice responsible and cooperative behavior while simultaneously pursuing their own dreams and aspirations.

Urbanization brings in changes that lead to transformations in cultural identification too, especially for the descendants. Changing demands of socio-economic, political or contemporary day-to-day living leave little or no room for the continuation of folk culture and traditional lifestyle. The effects of urbanization aren’t always negative but they are undeniably a significant one.

It is in this context that MyGov Arunachal Pradesh invites citizens to share their views on how urbanization impacts culture and what are some of the ways to maintain a balance between urbanization and the rich cultural heritage of the state.

There should be both improvement in western and our cultural activities and they should be taught to a child from her/his childhood so that he/she respect his/her own culture, etc. As nowadays most of the children, they even don't known what their culture are in real.If we do not teach our children from the beginning what our cultures are, then our cultures may extinct like dinosaur, etc.

Despite of walking along with changing generations, the state should also focus on saving it's pristine value, culture & traditions. And it can do it by making all traditional & Cultural essence compulsory in all spheres of life & encourage people to take up that with full heart & mind. The study & mind should be advanced with fusion of both Cultural & Modern state cultures. All traditional should be practiced at large & Competition & reward ceremonies should be adopted to maintain the tradition

CULTURE MUST NOT BE SHUNNED
The cultural expert says culture is important. "What we need to do in South Africa, we need to introduce those cultures. "

"There should be lessons for culture so that we can know. So that we know culture in terms of urbanisation. This is how we will know how Indians do things, this is how we will know how Jewish people do things. In that way we won't look down upon culture, it addresses the needs of the day."

The people who lived along the Cape Coast where these early indications of modern human behaviour have been found are in our genus, Homo sapiens.

“Most of our behaviour is an adaptation to life as a hunter-gatherer. The people living in South Africa more than a hundred thousand years ago were anatomically modern humans, so they are the same species of humans that we are. All of us, across the entire world, are descended from them.”

“So this might be where people started defining symbols, defining cultural traditions that go beyond the kind of culture that we see in chimpanzees, elephants and dolphins. Culture that becomes like the specific symbolic traditions that we see nowadays and that allows us to have this cohesion in much bigger communities than what we see, in for example chimpanzees or dolphins.”
