Arunachal Pradesh is taking steps to strengthen its sporting ecosystem through grassroots training, better use of existing facilities, and plans for major sports infrastructure.
Recently, MLA Tapi Darang inaugurated a boxing training centre established by the East Siang Amateur Boxing Association at Pasighat Botanical Garden. The initiative aims to nurture local boxing talent and provide young athletes with a dedicated space to train and prepare for competitions.
Other recent developments include the announcement of a proposed ₹300-crore, 30,000-seat stadium at Hollongi, a State-Level Archery Championship in Tawang, and traditional sports competitions at Padi Yubbe Stadium in Hapoli. Support for promising young archers through advanced training and sports equipment further highlights the importance of developing talent at the grassroots level.
Expanding training centres across districts, upgrading existing facilities and strengthening support from schools, colleges, sports associations and local communities can create greater opportunities for young people, particularly those from rural and remote areas.
