Preserving Culture & our Indigenous Identity with changing times in Arunachal

In order to retain the knowledge and insights of the past, it is imperative for the current and all future generations to preserve the rich culture and history adhering to a region. As the largest Northeastern state in India, Arunachal Pradesh presents a diverse and widespread amalgamation of indigenous culture and history of the many tribes that call it home. The region has been predominantly inhabited by indigenous people since time immemorial, having a distinct history, food, traditions, dialect, custom, culture, and heritage.

The lifestyles of the indigenous communities residing in Arunachal are simplistic and sustainable. Their practice of worshiping nature as supreme and believing that it is the ultimate giver implies the importance of nature and its impact on the community. And because of the immense traditional values it holds, they strive and swear to protect nature and its resources.

Understanding of traditional knowledge and methods is possible through preservation of culture, which is then passed down from generation to generation through stories, dances, poems, music, carvings, paintings, and renditions. Sharing inventions and practices developed over the centuries among indigenous societies require a profound understanding of the past; that have been carefully preserved till now.

At the same time, the region is catching up with changing technologies and advancements - an evolutionary trend that can potentially fade away past culture and traditional values, in the absence of carefully implemented preservation techniques.

Government of Arunachal Pradesh, through the MyGov Arunachal platform, invites ideas suggesting effective methods of cultural preservation in the state of Arunachal with changing times and advancement.
