Under the Seventh Schedule of the Indian Constitution, police and public orders are designated as state matters. Hence, it is the primary responsibility of state governments to prevent, detect, register, investigate, and prosecute crime. Maintaining law and order is significant because it serves as a guide for social norms and acceptable behaviours.

The government of Arunachal Pradesh under the leadership of Honourable Chief Minister, Shri Pema Khandu is determined to overlook and curb the uprising of unlawful activities in the state with several activities and initiatives to help accomplish the goal, such as:

-Inauguration of 5 new police station buildings on 24 March 2022 by Pema Khandu at Changlang, Namtok, Jairampur, Nampong & Manmao. In addition, 21 police stations have been newly established and renovated in the regions of Tirap, Changlang & Longding districts to secure law and order, and assure speedy development of the region

-Flagging off of police motor vehicles on August 4th, 2022 by the Hon'ble Chief Minister, Shri Pema Khandu, at the annual conference event of the SPs and Commandants to assist the police personnel in patrolling and maintaining law and order.

-Department of Police, Changlang conducted an awareness program on the POCSO Act, Cyber Crimes and Drug Abuse for the students of Government Higher Secondary School, Changlang to raise awareness of the unlawful activities and their impact, making them resilient to such illegal interests and practices.

-The District Police, East Kameng organised an awareness campaign on the theme "Ek Nayi Disha-Towards Safe Seppa" on 27th July 2022 at Seppa to educate about 500 students from different schools on cybercrime, drug abuse, and road safety.

-The District Police, Tawang conducted a 'Student Police Cadet' program on 14th July 2022 at the Government Secondary School, Seru, Tawang to raise awareness of the crimes, as well as, at the event, female students were provided with self-defence techniques and guidance under the "Rani Laxmi Bhai Atma Raksha Prashikshan."

Although there are regular interventions from the state Govt to maintain law & order in Aruanchal Pradesh, it is imperative that citizens equally participate in such matters for the upkeep of a healthy and prosperous society.

We request an honest opinion and suggestions from our fellow citizens on this matter and share how to make Arunachal a well-protected and crime-free state.

The Rights of States are important because they create a balance of power between the Federal Government and State Governments so that Federal Government does not have complete control.
